Dear Millstone Families,

This letter is to inform you that four students at Millstone Primary School have tested positive for COVID-19 since the start of the weekend. Contact tracing has been conducted and all four cases have been linked to exposure outside of the school setting. Unfortunately, however, all four students were present in school earlier in the week which will impose mandatory quarantines on numerous students and staff members. The number of staff members required to quarantine has an impact on our ability to continue delivering in-person services in one first grade class and throughout the “B Wing” where preschool classes are held and therapy services provided.

Please see below for specifics:

  • All AM and PM preschool classes (Miss Pruskiewicz, Mrs. Bergen, Miss McCormick, and Miss Tagliareni) will participate in remote instruction through Tuesday, January 26, 2021 and return to in-person instruction on Wednesday, January 27, 2021.
  • Mrs. Scarnati’s first grade class will participate in remote instruction until Wednesday, January 27, 2021 and return to in-person instruction on Thursday, January 28, 2021.
  • Miss Behan’s multi-grade class will participate in remote instruction until Thursday, January 28, 2021 and return to in-person instruction on Friday, January 29, 2021

All families who have a child in these classes identified as a “close contact” have been notified directly by Dr. Baker. If you have not received a direct communication, we have no reason to believe that your son/daughter has been in close contact with the students. Again, close contact is defined as being within six feet of the individual for an accumulated fifteen minutes over a twenty-four-hour period. Please note, however, that the nature of preschool, first grade, and multi-graded classrooms allow for more movement, interaction, and sharing of supplies than other settings. Thus, we recommend all families monitor their children closely for COVID-compatible symptoms over the next 10 days.

As always, we appreciate your understanding, support, and cooperation as we continually adjust and adapt to provide the best education possible during these challenging times.

Sincerely,

Dr. Chris Huss

Superintendent of Schools
